Watterton Beethoven Piano Series

Simon begins his sonata cycle with four works from different periods of the composer’s life. The first sonata already finds Beethoven in revolutionary mood, before the wonderful A Flat Major sonata op.26, favourite of Frederic Chopin. Next is the late E Minor sonata and a glimpse into the intimate, private world of late Beethoven, before the concert closes with the mighty, life-affirming ‘Waldstein.’
